52 Hike Challenge to Host Pop-Up Hikes at Arizona National Monuments - Partnering with the National Park Service on its 100th Anniversary

52 Hike Challenge to Host Pop-Up Hikes at Arizona National Monuments - Partnering with the National Park Service on its 100th Anniversary

The 52 Hike Challenge is partnering with the National Park Service (NPS) for their 100th Anniversary, to showcase and host hikes at Arizona National Monuments in February 2016.

Karla Amador and Phillip Stinis, founders of the 52 Hike Challenge will be visiting Tonto National Monument on Friday, February 19, Chiricahua National Monument on Saturday, February 20, and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monuments on Sunday, February 21, please click on the links to RSVP.  This tour is presented by Sawyer Products.

The tour is scheduled to meet with challengers in Arizona, hike, share stories, and also document the beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities available to visitors of the monuments.

“The National Park Service has 409 units, not all of them are called National Parks,” said, Sue Walter, Chief Interpreter for Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. “However, all of them are great to explore and most of them have great hiking opportunities.”

A big part of the 52 Hike Challenge is getting out and exploring new parks and trails, some of them in their immediate backyards like these national monuments. The 52 Hike Challenge is open to everyone and can be started anytime. To date, over 52,000 photos from enthusiasts taking the challenge have been posted on Instagram under the #52HikeChallenge. In 2015 alone, more than 24 pop-up hikes were held all-over California, Utah and Colorado.

“We’re honored to partner with NPS and National Park Foundation for their Centennial #FindYourPark celebration,” said Stinis. "The pop-up hikes at the destinations we have picked out will give hikers a wonderful experience outdoors, all while seeing the beauty these parks have to offer."

The pop-up hikes are open to anyone who is interested in hiking, visiting or exploring these National Monuments in Arizona. The hikes will also include a meet-and-greet with park rangers and give-aways hosted by Sawyer Products.

To start your own 52 Hike Challenge anytime, signup and join our communities on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
